Wild Swimming Spots in the UK
Wild swimming has taken the UK by storm recently! Although it seems like a fairly modern concept there is evidence that we have been doing this low-cost hobby since the 16th century! However, due to the pandemic forcing us to be isolated in our homes, this rising craze seemed to be the best way to reconnect with people (be that socially distanced) and reap the mental and physical health benefits of Wild Swimming.
From the chilly highlands to the southern coasts, people have been flocking to Britain’s lakes, rivers and seas to get involved. Find below some of our favourite Wild Swimming spots and where to stay nearby!
Elan Wye Junction PoolÂ
In this scenic spot the river Elan joins the River Wye to form a mixture of deep and shallow water, perfect for swimming. This location can get fairly chilly when the dams are opened in the summer, so this one is definitely for the brave! Whilst you are in this area why not make the most of your time and head over to explore the stunning 6 dams at Elan Valley Reservoir.
