Characterful accommodation with incredible facilities tucked away in a serene spot in the heart of the beautiful Mendip Hills.
Perfect for groups, families and couples alike. Pennard Hill Farm is a family run working farm offering a wide range of accommodation, including these three cottages. The Haybarn and The Lamb sleep two apiece. While The Golden Fleece sleeps up to eight in four bedrooms. Each has its own unique charm. From the ancient exposed brick and original features in The Haybarn. To the cosy, traditional cottage feel of The Lamb. With The Golden Fleece feeling spacious and brimming with character from another era. As well as the scenic views and huge expanse of land Pennard Hill Farm is set upon. Guests also have access to the generously sized indoor heated swimming pool. Ideal for a cooling dip in the summer, or as a fun activity when the weather is being somewhat British. Overlooking the site of the famed Glastonbury Festival and being just a few miles from Glastonbury itself. It also has wonderful views across to the Mendip Hills. Pennard Hill Farm offers not only a brilliant location, but a beautiful space in which to make memories together.
All three cottages at Pennard Hill Farm retain many of their original features. Each having a traditional, farmhouse feel all the while being entirely unique. The Haybarn feels timelessly romantic. With floors of red quarry tile and old oak beams, plush fabrics and an inviting, homely feel. The Lamb, meanwhile, feels like a traditional farm cottage. With an open, roaring fire, a dreamy window seat and a sumptuously large bedroom. You can even enjoy views of the Mendip Hills from the comfort of your bed. And the largest, The Golden Fleece offers plenty of space for the whole family. Whether you’re looking for an evening of competitive board games, a movie night. Or perhaps your resident chef fancies rustling up a feast on the lovely AGA in the fully equipped kitchen?
Being the largest of the three, The Golden Fleece enjoys a wonderful garden, somewhere for the kids to let off a bit of steam. That’s if they’re not already exhausted after their fun days out! All three cottages at Pennard Hill Farm are well located to be in easy reach of the shared indoor pool. An additional bonus are the beauty and spa treatments, shiatsu or massage on offer at an extra cost. Take the children to visit the cows or walk the dog to a local vineyard or cheesemaker to sample the local cheeses and wines. With private parking and a small lawn to yourselves, you can embark on wonderful walks right from the doorstep. And of course, at the end of a busy day, fire up the wood fired hot tub.
Somerset is rich with both history and geology. From the serene wetlands and moors to the impressive Wookey Hole Caves and Cheddar Gorge. There is no shortage of breath-taking landscape to explore. Get to know the quirks of Glastonbury and its many myths. Or soak up the sublime sound of the choir while gazing at the medieval stained glass at Wells Cathedral. You could even escape to the coast for flavoursome fish and chips.
Perfectly placed for a day trip to Bath. Not to be missed are the views of the city from the steaming rooftop spa pool at Thermae Bath Spa. You could also explore the Cranborne Chase AONB (Area of Natural Beauty). Or head down into Dorset to discover the Jurassic Coast.
As far as nearby eateries go, the traditional market town of Shepton Mallet is bursting with tasty fare. The Natterjack and Poachers Pocket receive rave reviews. However, if you’re looking for somewhere within easy walking distance. The Red Lion in West Pennard is only an amble away along via country lanes.
Also, conveniently close by, the Avalon Vineyard produces organic wines and ciders. Ideal for keen sommeliers and occasional drinkers alike for tours and tastings.
Couples, families and friends looking for a tranquil spot with ample to do.
If you are travelling as a group, this gorgeous retreat also has the The Tree Tents and The Safari Tent available to book.
