Unique, Secluded, Unforgettable – just flora, fauna and you!
Shrouded in sophistication yet tucked away amongst the quirky hidden thrills of a small working farm are flora and fauna. Offering idyllic rural seclusion are these two spacious and accessible safari lodges. Located on the border of the lush green counties of Devon and Somerset, flora and fauna are perfectly placed to explore the fresh, wild and rambling beauty of Exmoor National Park. Enjoying the darkest skies in the country, Exmoor became the first designated International Dark Sky Reserve in Europe and at nightfall as you gaze up at the stars, you will be nothing short of mesmerised. It’s simply magical!
Each luxury Safari Lodge sleeps up to 6 people – so hiring both tents will give exclusive site use for larger family gatherings or getaways with friends. Exclusive hire also includes free use of the Gathering Barn, which offers a space to relax, cook and dine for up to 12 people. Appetising local produce is sold in the onsite honesty shop, some of it from the farm itself.
What really sets these unique structures apart however, is the level of concealed accessibility that has been thoughtfully integrated throughout. The owners firm commitment to equality and inclusivity means that every aspect of the site has been designed and created to accommodate full time independent wheelchair users. To ensure that accessibility and luxury go hand in hand, you can expect site-wide WiFi and 50 inch smart TV’s, state of the art wet-rooms and fully accessible fitted kitchens. These 5-star safari tents are the UK’s first such accommodation to be rated with an M3 Gold Star accessibility rating and the owners were accredited with the ROSE Award in 2023 for Recognition of Services Exemplary. Being accessible means that the site is step free and so is also ideal for families with young children; offering them the safety and freedom to roam.
Based on a small working farm, the site is the perfect base to meet, greet and get up close to a charming assortment of characterful farm animals including pygmy goats, pigs, cows and sheep; all of whom welcome the chance of a grabbing a selfie with their visitors!
The spacious open plan living space incorporates a lounge area, dining space and a well-equipped kitchen. Comfy sofas are perfectly appointed to enjoy the wall-mounted Smart TV and the flickering flames from the log burner. The kitchen includes a farmhouse dining table, electric rise and fall worktop, integrated fridge, electric oven, induction hob, kettle, toaster and coffee machine. Two bedrooms offer the flexibility of either king-sized or single beds [zip & link], with electric profiling beds in the master bedroom. An additional and separate secret double cabin bed is always a hit with the children. And a large stylish wet room allows a choice of high end accessibility aids that are bespoke to meet the needs of each individual guest.
Each lodge has step free access with an expansive deck, comfy outdoor sofa and electric hot tub. The canvas fronts of the lodges roll up to create an outdoor bar with stools, bringing the outside in. You can try your hand at al fresco cooking or simply toast marshmallows on the outdoor BBQ. The gathering barn is a great place to sit, read and relax in front of the log burner and includes free use of the kitchen and large dining table for those who book the site exclusively. An onsite honesty shop means you wont ever be without provisions and the lodges sit unobtrusively in a meadow field which is flat and hidden away within a fenced mature tree line. Children and dogs can roam freely and safely, whilst the grown-ups kick back and relax.
Locally, there are numerous shops and award winning pubs and restaurants including a delightful country pub within walking distance. Whether you’re looking for adventure, experiences, culture or some R&R, this is the perfect destination for families, couples, groups and business trips. Both Devon and Somerset host an array of captivating attractions and activities, with plenty of beaches easily reachable by car. Regionally, there is continued investment to enhance visitor access, with a number of tourist attractions implementing ways of improving accessible days; such as tramper hire for ambling along lakesides and coastal paths. Wimbleball Lake is less than ten minutes’ drive and has water sports and activities for varying mobility levels. Haddon Hill offers wheelchair accessible routes to unmissable 360 degree views of the Exmoor moorlands. West Somerset Steam Railway offer an accessible carriage for wheelchair users and the award-winning Calvert Trust enable people with disabilities to experience exciting and challenging outdoor activities with friends and family.
Groups and families who are mindful of mobility needs but want zero compromise on luxury or experience.
