About

Pack up your troubles and head to these divine lakeside havens for two.

Set within a naturally reclaimed lime quarry, Lilypod is the award-winning floating sanctuary you never knew you needed. Located in Devon, at the edge of Dartmoor National Park and just across the border from Cornwall. It is a location that is teeming with options, whether you’re seeking to retreat into nature. Or explore the sights and attractions both Devon and Cornwall have to offer.

Lilypod opts for a unique twist on glamping by taking to the water. Bespoke hand built geodesic domes sit atop their own floating pontoon. With a minimal carbon footprint, these pods are eco efficient. Built using local timber and powered by the sun. Immaculately styled with a luxe feel, Kingfisher and Heron are purpose built for two. With no Wi-Fi, disconnect those devices, and instead watch nature at work. Listen to the trilling chorus of birdsong and feel soothed by the gentle lap of the waterfall as it feeds into the lake. Prepare to feel reinvigorated and more connected, not only with one another, but with the natural world around you.

The lake is naturally replenished by underground springs and a waterfall that flows out gently through a winding tributary to the nearby River Lew. Surrounded by trees, this serene setting offers a haven for wildlife. The fresh waters are home to a variety of fish species, while in Summer, freshwater lilies gently float on the surface. Herons, kingfishers, and swallows have made the lake their home, while soaring above you can see Kites and buzzards. A resident family of beavers also adds to the charm.

Inside

Both Kingfisher and Heron offer the same interior space and facilities. The doors open up into a bright and open space. Warmed to perfection with the log burning stove, you can snuggle beneath the duvet of your sumptuous king size bed. Recline in the bean bag chairs as you devour a book. Challenge one another to a board game, or simply enjoy some relaxing music via the Bluetooth speaker. The small but functional kitchenette space comes with a dual gas burner, a fridge with freezer shelf and a kettle for the gas stove. And coffee lovers will love a cup of coffee brewed in the cafetiere first thing in the morning. At the rear is your ensuite bathroom, complete with a walk in power shower.

Outside

The outside of your Lilypod is where Kingfisher and Heron differ from one another. While they each have the same facilities, they differ slightly in terms of layout. Heron has a longer pontoon, extending the outside deck space with its table and chairs, to a floating pathway. Take a few short steps and arrive at your fire pit and barbecue suspended above the water. Meanwhile Kingfisher has its deck space, complete with table and chairs with a pathway leading to dry land. Here you will find a secluded garden space, as well as your fire pit and barbecue. In addition, both pods have a quirky water hammock, and Canadian canoe.

For those seeking adventure, the lake ladders provide the perfect entry point for a refreshing wild swim, ideal for confident swimmers. During the cooler months, a wetsuit is recommended. Wild swimming not only enhances your connection to nature but also offers numerous health benefits. Whether you’re looking for a calming morning swim or a revitalising dip after a day of exploration, the opportunity to dive straight into the pristine lake from your accommodation makes this a truly unique and unforgettable experience.

Nearby

The positioning of Lilypod offers the best of all worlds. Plenty of peace and quiet, but with the option to get out and about. Take a leisurely 5-minute stroll from your pod to experience the charm of Alder’s award-winning vineyard and café (open 9am-5pm Wednesday to Sunday), right here on the farm. Savour wines made from grapes grown just steps away, and elevate your stay with a romantic meal. Or take a captivating wine tour through the picturesque grape fields – the perfect combination of indulgence and relaxation awaits.

Discover almost limitless options for things to see and do within an hour’s drive. If you’re in the mood for a country pub, some of Dartmoor’s finest are on the doorstep. The Tors Inn is situated 1000 ft above sea level, serving up delicious local produce. Whilst Gidleigh Park offers a fine dining experience in its Michelin star restaurant.

If you are looking to stretch your legs there are plenty of scenic walks to enjoy. Explore Lydford Gorge with its breathtaking waterfall. Or take in the epic views from the National Park as you climb dramatic granite tors, shaped over millennia. Discover the Granite Way, an 11-mile multi-use, traffic-free trail that offers a scenic journey through some of the most captivating landscapes. This well-maintained path takes you across impressive viaducts, alongside serene reservoirs, and through picturesque valleys, making it perfect for walking, cycling, or running.

In forty minutes, you could be in Tintagel. With links to Arthurian legend, it’s both mysterious and beautiful. In under an hour you can be over the border and at the Cornish seaside town of Bude, famous for its waves and rolling beaches. Clovelly, the traditional fishing village known by its steep and undulating cobbles, is an hour away. While the pretty seaside village of Hope Cave is around ninety minutes by car. Or if you’re missing city life, Exeter is a forty minutes drive.

There is so much to discover and it’s all detailed in your digital guidebook which you will receive when you check in.
