Cosy yet strikingly stylish, these are sensational spaces to house your next getaway.
Located in the tiny hamlet of Burlingjobb, close to the Welsh/English border, is Hergest Lee. Not only does it occupy an idyllic position amidst the stunning Welsh countryside. But The Cabin and The Lean-To are pretty idyllic too.
As seen on Channel Four’s Extraordinary Escapes, these two properties are truly extraordinary. Lovingly designed and hand crafted to perfection by the owner, they are very special spaces. With careful thought ensuring that their environmental impact is minimised. Built with sustainable, locally sourced materials, breathable insulation and natural paints and varnishes throughout. They are also heated with infrared panels for efficiency.
A true escape for couples, or small families, each property can accommodate up to four people. Each has a master bedroom, with an additional area with children in mind. The Cabin has a mezzanine space with two single mattresses. This is recommended for younger children as it may be a little too snug for older children or adults. The Lean-To, meanwhile, has a bunk room also with two single mattresses. Accessed by ladder, this is not recommended for young children.
Embrace the beautiful location, detox from your hectic everyday lives, and prepare for some quality time spent together in tranquillity.
Decorated with a mid-century vibe, both properties at Hergest Lee are both dramatic and wonderfully quirky.
The Cabin has an open plan living space including a well equipped kitchen for whipping up simple meals and snacks. The handcrafted kitchen has a two hob gas burner, toasters and small fridge as well as pots and pans. There is also a small, portable plug-in oven close to hand. The extendable table and stools are perfect for meal times. While the living area, with Ercol chair and comfy sofa, is begging to be lounged in. Select from the range of board games and books and while the hours away. You’ll find the master bedroom next to the living space, with the incredible freestanding antique roll top bath. Located in front of a picture window, sink into a bubble bath with a view. You also have a shower room, along with additional mattresses for children up the floating staircase on the mezzanine floor.
Meanwhile, The Lean-To is surprisingly spacious despite its small footprint. The open plan living space features a double height ceiling. With a lounge area, and dining space along with a well equipped kitchen. With an oven, induction hob, toaster and small fridge. Upstairs you’ll find the master bedroom as well as the incredible sunken bath. And, accessed via a ladder, and so only suitable for older children, is a quirky bunk room equipped with two single mattresses. There is also a shower room to the rear.
With Hergest Lee occupying such a beautiful spot, you’ll enjoy having your own private outdoor space. The Cabin benefits from a small decked area with outdoor furniture and an enclosed garden. Meanwhile The Lean-To has a small gravelled garden perfect for that quiet morning cuppa at the outdoor dining set. And for those who wish to embrace the ethos of outdoor living, al fresco cooking is possible over your fire pit/grill. Or simply enjoy the flickering firelight as it takes the chill off your evening.
