Tucked away into the north-western tip of the beautiful Lake District, is Castle Guards Farm Retreat. Offering four beautiful glamping pods on a working farm, sleeping up to six people each. Nestled in a private valley, you’ll be presiding over views of open countryside. The ideal base for couples, friends and families to escape to. And with two of the pods being dog friendly (Highmoor and Corn Crake) all the family can come along. And for those with allergies, Tarnities and The Roans are strictly dog free – keeping everyone happy!

Castle Guards Farm Retreat is the perfect base from which to explore the local area and beyond. Walkers and cyclists in particular will enjoy the location, it being the start of National Cycle Route 10. This takes in nearby Cockermouth, going through to North Shields via Kielder Forest and Carlisle.

Inside

Each pod at Castle Guards Farm Retreat has its own colour theming. But each share the same brilliant facilities and amenities, including underfloor heating, making them comfortable year-round. The glazed door opens into the main part of the pod. With a corner sofa, which converts into a double sofa bed. Along with a dining table for six, a double bed and a kitchenette space. This features a two ring induction hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge/freezer and even a dishwasher. In the rear, you’ll find a two bed bunk – ideal for the kids! And an ensuite shower room. In addition, you have Wi-Fi and a Smart TV – just in case it’s a bit wet and wild outside!

Outside

The aim of your stay at Castle Guards Farm Retreat is relaxation. Park up your car next to your pod and take a deep breath of beautiful fresh air. And as lovely as the inside of your pod is, it’s the outside where you’ll want to spend your time. From the first light of morning where you sneak a peek from beneath the covered veranda of your pod. To preparing your meals over the barbecue. And of course, enjoying them around the picnic table! And, should you choose to include it in your stay, take a dip in your private wood fired hot tub. Wonderfully located to maximise privacy yet take advantage of those far reaching views across the fields. Not forgetting skywards, for when the stars come out it’s the most beautiful sight.

Nearby

Castle Guards Farm Retreat is handily located just three miles away from Cockermouth. A lovely Georgian market town, it has a wonderful array of shops and eateries to explore. Locally, you can visit The Lakes Distillery (twelve minutes) and experience a tour, plus a whiskey and chocolate tasting. Or expand your knowledge of sea life at The Lake District Coast Aquarium (thirteen minutes). If you’re feeling particularly literary, visit Wordsworth House. A National Trust property and the childhood home of acclaimed poet, William Wordsworth. And the pods are an ideal base for exploring the beautiful Lake District, with a plethora of walks and cycle routes ripe for exploration. And if you fancy taking on the ultimate challenge, why not scale England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike. Park up in Wasdale, just under an hour away, and strap those hiking boots on!
