The Burrows Dolassey is managed by Tom.
Minimum stay for this property is 3 nights.
The curved grass roofs of The Nest, The Burrow & The Warren nestle among rolling hills close to the English Welsh border. Bright, light, and seriously stylish, The Burrows Dolassey offer a luxury getaway for families, couples or groups. Entirely private and surrounded by the beautiful Welsh countryside, you can be sure to enjoy a restorative break. Unplug and relax. Or not. Wi-Fi is available, if you really must stay in touch with the outside world! Explore walking trails from the door as well as the 300 acre farm idyll. Paddle in the nearby stream. Listen to the bleating sheep and the soft rustle of leaves in the gentle breeze. Reconnect with the outdoors and leave feeling fully refreshed.
From the moment you walk through the door, you’ll be hard pressed not to be impressed by these properties. Huge expanses of glass allow natural light to pour in, and provide a front row seat to the most incredible views. The open plan living spaces include handmade kitchens (a dishwasher too – no washing up here!), sofas and dining table. The interiors are stylish and fresh with accents of wood and greenery throughout. The Nest sleeps four in two super king bedrooms, The Burrow sleeps five and The Warren sleeps seven over three boutique bedrooms. Choose from a wet room or a bathroom with roll top bath in The Nest. There’s a circular spa bath and wild shower in The Warren and a gleaming copper bath in The Burrow. With floor to ceiling luscious views from inside, you’re spoilt for choice of where to chillax. Not to mention the options outdoors…
Enjoy tempting tipples by the firepit, give games of chase around the glorious garden and indulge in some long lunches on the terrace. Delight your child (or your inner child) as you explore the endless space and dip your toes into the stream in the valley below. The Burrows at Dolassey are the epitome of refined, rural idyll. The perfect starting place for a local ramble, with wonderful wildlife such as elusive otters and skittish sheep the only nosey neighbours you might encounter. Take bathing to a whole new level as you enjoy luxuriating in your favourite bubbles, whether in an outdoor bath or steaming hot tub. Later, cuddle by the firepit, fully relaxed and in tune with your tranquil surroundings.
The Burrows at Dolassey are situated in the village of Bleddfa. The nearest town, Knighton, is famous for straddling the Welsh/English border midway along the Offa’s Dyke National Trail. It is also the only town on the ancient trail, a 177 mile walking route steeped in history. Delve into its history at the Offa’s Dyke Visitor Centre. On Saturdays there is a Farmers Market which is worth a visit! Sample some food made by local butchers and bakers, and treat yourself to some handmade gifts.
There are plenty of eateries to choose from including The George, The Banc, The Horse & Jockey and Saffron Indian in Knighton, The Lion in Leintwardine that has earned itself an impressive accolade of awards and The Harp at Old Radnor, named the Country Pub of the Year 2020 and boasting buckets of characterful charm.
The area is ripe for exploration by foot or by bike. To the south, visit the luscious waterfall walk at Water Break its Neck. Across the border visit the historic English Market town of Ludlow, famed for its castle and wealth of history. More locally, take a walk to the Bleddfa Art Centre. Or explore on horseback with Underhill Riding Stables. Head towards the Cambrian mountains and admire the spectacular birds as they gather at the Red Kite feeding centre. Stop off at The Lost Arc Rhayader Cafe & Arts Centre beside the River Wye for a coffee or delicious Sunday Lunch. The outstanding Elan Valley is a little further beyond, which the poet Shelley made his home. Here you can hire bikes, stargaze, explore the dams and finish with tea and cake at The Elan Valley Visitor Centre.
