About

Experience a luxury guilt-free escape like no other….

Nestled into Townfoot Hill on a family farm in the south of the Scottish Borders is The House in the Hill. Close to the village of Oxnam, it offers the perfect spot for a tranquil and restorative break.

This picture perfect hillside abode takes sustainability seriously. Built with the environment in mind, materials for the build were reclaimed or recycled wherever possible. During the design process great thought was placed into making the most of the natural surroundings while lessening the impact. From the hillside roof, to the use of glazing to naturally brighten the space. Completely off grid, heat and power comes from solar and ground sources. It is also supplied with natural spring water. With electric charging facilities for e-bikes and electric cars, it supports more eco-conscious modes of transport too.

Sleeping up to four people (with an additional two infants) in two bedrooms, it is the ideal space for a couples. Relax into the peace and quiet while enjoying quality time together. With the days free for exploring all the surrounding area has to offer. Return to The House in the Hill for a relaxing evening and a night full of carefree dreams.

Inside

Huge expanses of glazing both minimise the need for artificial lighting and allow easy access to those incredible views. The open plan living space of The House in the Hill is the centrally located hub of this hillside home. To the front is the lounge area, with a comfy sofa positioned around the wood burning stove. With the dining area behind, and the kitchen towards the rear. Well equipped, it has everything needed for a self-catering stay. On either side of the living area are the two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed along with its own ensuite. While the second bedroom has a flexible king/twin choice of formation and has use of the adjacent shower room. Both bedrooms also benefit from the same huge expanse of glazing as in the living space. Just imagine a morning cup of tea in bed, looking out across that gorgeous landscape – bliss.

Outside

Outdoor adventurers are well catered for at The House in the Hill. With a secure bike store, as well as a drying room, should the weather be less than kind. The rooftop terrace offers amazing 360° views. While the terrace accessed from the living area’s sliding doors offers a beautiful and relaxing outdoor area. Cook al fresco at the barbecue and enjoy the fruits of your labour at the dining set. While your wood fired hot tub offers the most relaxing of locations to simply sit and take it all in.
