Trawscwm Treehouse is managed by John and Laura.
Minimum stay for this property is 2 nights.
Awake from a deliciously deep sleep to the chorus of birdsong between the branches of an old oak. Marvel at the indulgence of your getaway in leafy luxury. Trawscwm (pronounced ‘trouscum’) treehouse is an oasis of seclusion where you can forget the outside world. With limited phone signal it’s a chance to disconnect from your devices, and reconnect with your family.
Built entirely by owners John and Laura, Trawscwm Treehouse sits in rolling fields on a working family farm in Mid Wales. With only the sheep and birds for company, this luxurious location promises privacy in an oasis of greenery. To access the treehouse, bundle your essentials into a wheelbarrow, pull on your wellies, and wander across the fields. You’ll leave your cares further behind with each step. Cross a wooden footbridge over a stream that curls around the base of the treehouse. Leave the hammock for later, and the mini treehouse-playhouse and climb the timber steps to explore your dreamy holiday home.
The interiors are rustic with cool, quirky pieces. Trawscwm is an open-plan oasis of natural timber and contemporary charm. Experience floor-to-ceiling views of the little valley from your shower or roll top bath. Or curl up in an armchair with a book while your other half whips up a tasty dinner in the well-equipped kitchen. Or why not book the private chef?
Large double doors open up to the outdoors, fields, trees and sunsets. A wide wrap-around deck provides many a perch for wildlife watching. It won’t take long to succumb to the bubbles of the hot tub, offering sensational soaks beneath the branches. Or nestled amongst fairy lights and hidden beneath the decking is a freestanding tin bath for more soaks under the stars. Maybe you’ll be brave enough to try it as a cold bath instead? There is also a hammock suspended from the stilts below, as well as an extended outdoor area with games for little ones and a firepit, perfect for toasting marshmallows beneath the starry skies.
Perfectly placed for a vast array of adventures and activities, Trawscwm is only a short drive from the wild beauty and awe-inspiring dams of the Elan Valley. The poet Shelley walked all the way here from London and made it his home. For fans of birds of prey, also close by is the Red Kite Feeding Station in Rhayader as well as the Kington Small Breeds Centre.
Rhayader is home to the relaxed and family/dog friendly Lost Arc Cafe and Multi Arts Centre. A welcoming hub for locals with pizza night on Fridays, Sunday lunch and divine deserts. It’s right beside the River Wye so perfect for a walk after your indulgence!
The Phil Price Rally School is perfect for adrenaline seekers. Or try Clay Target Shooting at Griffin Lloyd.
The Victorian spa town of Llandrindod Wells is also home to the Metropole Hotel which offers some seriously sublime spa packages, or relax in the comfort of your treehouse with a massage, bookable in advance.
If you’re looking to dine out during your stay, there are plenty of options in the nearby towns of Llandrindod Wells, Llanbister and Knighton including Drovers Thai, The Banc, The Radnorshire Arms and The George.
Those in need of an indulgent escape.
