Rural and peaceful, Cae Main Shepherds Hut nestles in its own private paddock with vast amounts of space to enjoy all to yourselves and far stretching views over the Clwydian Range AONB. With carefully thought out features, this cosy shepherd’s hut is the perfect escape for sole travellers or for two people. And located in the tourism hot spot that is North Wales, you’ll not be short on things to do!
We can’t think of a better place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life than Cae Main. Offering cosy glamping accommodation, an abundance of mountain views, plenty of fresh air and no neighbours nearby (apart from the occasional sheep) this is a great place to unwind.
Inside
This wonderful little shepherd’s hut oozes peace and tranquillity. Perfectly designed to sleep two. Cae Main boasts a sumptuous double bed adorned with an amazing Baavet duvet, made with 100% British Wool. There is storage underneath the bed perfect for your bags. Cae Main also has a cute kitchenette equipped with a kettle, toaster, microwave and small fridge with an icebox. Great for cooking up some simple meals. Complimentary fair-trade tea, coffee, sugar, condiments and marshmallows are provided; so as soon as you arrive you can enjoy a nice cuppa in the fresh air.
The bathroom is situated 20m away from the shepherds hut in the beautifully hand crafted amenity hut which is cladded with local larch. Here you will find a private bathroom with a great walk in shower. Towels are provided. For cyclist lovers or keen hikers, guests have their own lockable shed to safely secure bikes, hang wet gear and keep muddy boots. A bucket and brush are provided to wash down muddy boots and bicycles!
Outside
Tempting though it may be to snuggle up for the entirety of your stay at Cae Main Shepherd’s Hut. We just know you’ll be drawn outside to the breath-taking mountain views of the Clwydian Range AONB. Huddle round the glow of your own campfire, toasting the complimentary marshmallows and gazing at the stars in this dark sky reserve. Or if you’d rather go for some al fresco dining, pop some charcoal on the firepit with the grill top and rustle up a delicious home cooked meal for two.
If the weather is a little more adverse, you can take advantage of the covered area on the side of the amenity hut. Where you can take a seat and plan the next days adventures with the help of the large OS maps mounted on the wall.
Nearby
Cae Main is perfectly located for exploring the beautiful landscapes of North Wales. The picturesque market town of Ruthin is the closest town. Llangollen is only a short drive away and is definitely worth a visit! Llangollen is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site boasting eleven miles of stunning canal. If you are feeling brave enough you can even walk or canoe over the famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. And the Roman city of Chester, the North Wales Coast and Snowdonia National Park are all less than an hours drive away.
Beautifully placed in a rural location, there are plenty of local circular walks, jogging routes and cycling trails all awaiting your exploration. Owners of Cae Main have put together some of their favourite walking trails in your welcome pack! Spend your days exploring the wonderful Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB and spend your nights stargazing in the local Dark Sky Sites.
For the bike lovers, there are plentiful places to test out your skills on some rugged mountain bike routes. Don’t worry if you don’t have your own bike but still want to try mountain biking out! Bikes can be hired from Oneplanet Adventure.
In terms of eateries, The Leyland Arms is only 10 minutes away. A lovely country pub in a Grade II listed building serving evening meals and Sunday lunches. There is also The Grouse Inn and Small plates. The Sugarplum Tearoom is 25 minutes away but is worth the drive for its selection of handmade cakes, milkshakes and afternoon teas.
