Inside
Plentiful glazing allows uninterrupted views across the Glen and towards Ben Nevis. South-facing, they allow light to pour into this modern lodge. A neutral palette maximises the feeling of space creating a homely, yet uncluttered area. Perfect for clearing the mind. The open plan living space, incorporating a fully equipped kitchen, forms the hub of the property. Modern conveniences include a dishwasher – no need to pack the marigolds! You’ll also find laundry facilities and a coffee machine.
After a day filled with fresh air, snuggle together as you warm yourselves in front of the wood burning stove. Then recline into sleep on the king size bed. Come morning you can rise to the stunning views without even having to move, with the help of the remote control blinds! Then enjoy a freshen up in the spacious shower room, which benefits from the best view you’ll ever have as you shower!
During your stay you will also find an actual sketching pad with paint and colouring pencils in the lodge. The lodge is named after the owner Edith’s Mother (Frances) who loved to paint the view from the spot where the lodge is now located. So the sketching pad is in her honour, so let those creative juices flow!
Outside
The highlands are your oyster, with the manicured lawn giving way to the stunning Glen. Enjoy your morning coffee in sight of Ben Nevis before heading out to explore. With walking and bike trails from the doorstep, Frances’ Sketch Pad is a dream for those who love being outdoors! Stretch your legs and explore the nearby small loch, keeping your eyes peeled for furry residents. And after a day of outdoor adventure retire back to your lodge. Eat al fresco on the terrace, before clinking champagne glasses in the hot tub. Let the warm bubbles unfurl those tight muscles as your eyes feast upon those incredible views.
Nearby
The area is teeming with outdoor activities, and the Estate itself offers more than its fair share of things to do! The knowledgeable estate owners can even help you put together an exciting itinerary. Hiking, biking, fishing, boating, deer stalking, or even cookery demonstrations and wine tastings if you’re looking for something a little more indoor-sy. Off the estate, you’re just a ten-minute drive to Fort William and its range of independent shops. Keen golfers will have their pick of courses, starting with Fort William and Spean Bridge Golf Courses – both just a fifteen-minute drive. For those intrigued by history, Old Inverlochy Castle, a ruined 13th century castle, is one of the most important in Scottish history. And of course, it would be rude to travel to the highlands without a taste of the local tipple. Ben Nevis Distillery and Visitor Centre offer guided tours of the facility.
