At Llanthony Court Castaway you’ll find compact and comfortable living. Moreover, it has a fully equipped kitchen with freshly laid free-range eggs, bread, butter, tea and coffee all provided. A rustic living area and king-size bed in one carriage, along with a wood burning stove, ensure you get the cosiest night’s sleep. In the adjoining carriage there is a spacious shower room where you will find beautifully warmed towels on the rail, shampoo and fragranced soaps all made in the countryside. Equipped with underfloor heating, card games, board games and books, you are guaranteed a snug stay.
Outside the Carriages
Fully indulge in the location as you drive up the private farm track with your own parking. Llanthony Court Castaway is accessed by crossing a quirky wooden bridge leading straight to the retreat. Swap the comfy king-size bed for the deck chairs. And finally, admire the views and soak up the tranquillity from the terrace decked out with fairy lights. A fire pit with grilling rack is provided so indulge in alfresco dining whilst star gazing in the clear night sky. A self catering holiday doesn’t have to mean cooking for yourself! Foodies will enjoy the fact that a ten minute walk will bring them to Llanthony Priory, a small country inn that sits within a 12th century Augustinian priory. Serving real ales and homemade meals, it’s a fantastic setting to finish a day of exploration. The Half Moon pub is just another two minutes away. Or those preferring a cup of tea with cake or afternoon tea should head to Llanthony Treats in the village. But if leaving the retreat isn’t on the agenda, home-made beef and lamb burgers and pork sausages can be bought directly from the farm. Or add on a ‘pizza package’ to your stay which will provide you with yummy fresh dough balls and all the equipment and information you will need to create your very own amazing pizzas in the wood fired pizza oven.
Half an hour from Llanthony Court Castaway are the market towns of Hay-on-Wye and Abergavenny. Hay-on-Wye, famous for its large number of bookshops is a wonderful place to peruse. Especially during the world famous Hay Festival which takes place from late May to June. Abergavenny, known as the Gateway to Wales, is another great place to explore and soak in the fresh mountain air and beautiful scenery.
There are an abundance of trails, arduous mountain climbs and outdoor pursuits with the Brecon Beacons National Park on the doorstep. Or if you simply fancy staying put, local river rambles can be enjoyed right from the doorstep. And even a spot of wild swimming for the more adventurous. You may even be lucky enough to see some of the resident wildlife inhabitants, from red kites to owls, badgers and more.
