About

As featured on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces – this is one mind-blowing lodge!

Situated in the heart of rural Rutland, Rocket Lodge is quite the place. The wider site is known as ‘A Little Bit of Rough’ and has an unwavering commitment to sustainability. Using green technology to heat and provide power to their lodges while seeking ways to minimise their impact on the environment. And this ethos is reflected to a hugely ambitious degree in Rocket Lodge. It is a special place. A mish-mash of reclaimed items, art and furniture so quirky that the final result borders on magical. Comprised of three reclaimed grain silos and four Shepherds Huts, all connected with glazed oak corridors. Completely and utterly bespoke, the lodge and its surroundings are stunning. From the views, to the carefully thought out outside spaces. Right through to the private woodland spot it inhabits. Everything combines to create something perfectly unique.

Sleeping six people (a maximum of four adults) this is an unforgettable place to come together and make some very special memories.

Inside

The quirky layout of Rocket Lodge will make for exciting exploration for both kids and adults! Enter silo one and be greeted by the lounge area, with seating around its circular edge. With reclaimed wood paneling creating a warm, stately, period feel. Silo two holds the kitchen. The heritage painted wood paneling lifts this space, ensuring it feels bright and homely. The kitchen units are positioned around the edges, with a dining table at the centre. Off these two ‘communal’ silos you’ll find the Shepherds Huts. Three of these house the bedrooms, two doubles plus a twin. Plus, a spacious shower room. The final silo is what George Clarke himself referred to as “a masterpiece”. It is not just any bathroom. This is a room dedicated to the experience of bathing. At its centre is a freestanding copper bathtub, standing in front of an impressive fireplace. Encapsulating a bio-ethanol stove, it creates a cosy, traditional feel to bathtime. And we cannot forget to mention the quirkiest touch. The over sized glitter ball. Live out your Strictly dreams in a bathtub in Rutland.

Outside

Situated in its own private woodland location, Rocket Lodge has a lovely outlook across the Rutland countryside. South facing, the green oak framed deck is perfect for al fresco dining. And you’ll have quite the choice of dinners to choose from. Not only do you have the kitchen facilities indoors. But you also have both a BBQ area and a wood fired pizza oven outdoors. Dessert could be in the form of giant marshmallows toasted in the fire pit area. And after a busy day exploring the lodge’s own wetland, pond and island. Slip into the wood fired hot tub and recline beneath that glorious starry sky.

Nearby

Although Rocket Lodge is situated in the country’s smallest county, it has plenty to shout about! Rutland Water is a hub of activity. Walk and cycle around the lake or, don a wetsuit and dive into one of the water sports on offer. Sail, windsurf, kayak, canoe or paddle board to your heart’s content. For a more sedate day, try your hand at a spot of trout fishing. While adrenaline junkies will want to tackle the obstacle course on the Aquapark. If you’re intent on keeping dry, explore the local towns. Uppingham is just three miles away and is famed for its antiques store. While Oakham is a pretty, traditional English market town. Families might enjoy a day out at Twinlakes Theme Park. While budding astronauts might like to get ahead of the game at The National Space Centre in Leicester.
