The Mission is a stunning holiday home nestled in the rural parish of Chale. Classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it has a heritage coast line and is also a site of special scientific interest. The Isle of Wight is a very special place to visit. One of only seven locations in the UK to be awarded Biosphere Reserve status by UNESCO. It recognises the impact of communities working with nature to live in an increasingly sustainable way. Beautiful beaches, water sports and a maritime climate make it a wonderful place to visit all year round.
The Mission itself is just as fascinating, having begun life as a place of salvation for smugglers and wreckers. The vintage style of the interior and particularly the double height main living space is deeply impressive.
Ideal for families or groups, The Mission sleeps eight (nine at a squeeze with a daybed in the main living space). Also, there is a travel cot available for infants, and well behaved dogs are welcome. With four bedrooms sleeping up to two people each. There is also a main bathroom and an additional shower room.
Inside
The main living space of The Mission is quite simply, incredible. Well-equipped for rainy days, lazy days and everything in between, this is where the whole group will love to be. The space is vintage inspired, and you can feel days gone by seep into the space. Open plan with cosy sofas centred around the wood burning stove. Perfectly placed to enjoy the 55” Smart TV, coming with a DVD player, DVDs and Netflix is available. Jigsaws and games for all ages. Chill out with the record player and vinyl collection. Or gather around the piano for a good old sing song!
The kitchen offers everything your designated chef could need. A gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, Nespresso machine, food mixer and processor and even a whole host of baking supplies. Plus, there’s a washing machine – always handy after muddy puddle jumping!
On the mezzanine level, you’ll find the first two bedrooms. A super king and a four poster. While the remaining two bedrooms can be found in the rear Sunday School extension. One being a twin, with the other offering the choice of being either a twin or a super king. These are particularly ideal for children, as they are protected from the noise of the main living space.
Outside
Head out of the kitchen door onto the deck space. A lovely private space, it has outdoor dining space for eight people. And if you fancy a spot of al fresco cooking, The Mission comes with a versatile Kamado barbecue. Head up the steps into the lawned space, where your group’s chef may be keen to forage for herbs!
Nearby
With sixty-five miles of coastline to explore around the Isle of Wight, you’re spoiled for choice with beautiful beaches. To narrow down your choices, head to Compton if you enjoy surfing. For paddleboarders, go to Colwell or Totland. While those who wish to try kite surfing, Brook Chine is your go-to. All are within thirty five minutes, or less, by car. Families will enjoy a trip to Blackgang Chime, a brilliant amusement park, walkable in just twelve minutes. Those with green fingers may be keen to check out Ventnor Botanical Gardens, just over ten minutes away by car. And for those who love history, Osborne House is a must visit. Just over twenty minutes away, it was the family home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Their love for the Isle of Wight sparked a trend for tourism that has continued ever since. And however you spend your day, the Wight Mouse Inn is just a couple minutes’ walk away from The Mission. With a well-stocked bar and a tasty menu to sample, it’s perfect for an evening out!
