Remote Getaways in the UK
In our increasingly technological world, us here at ToWander UK are quick to prioritise getting back to nature and enjoying the benefits that peace, quiet and plenty of outdoor time can have on our mental and physical health. You may be searching for a secluded cottage with a hot tub, with no signal or Wi-Fi to truly disconnect from life, or a glamping retreat in Cornwall, where the only noise you will hear is the birdsong as you wake.
We have taken a look at our favourite remote places where you can escape, in England Scotland and Wales. Some completely isolated, and others are nestled together in the middle of nowhere.
Ah, the simple life. We are so used to amenities on our doorstep, it is easy to take for granted so many aspects of our modern day life. Take a trip to the Western country, and really strip it back to basics at Hadspen Glamping, a intimate site of 3, eco-friendly and sustainable safari tents. Don’t worry, you will be snuggling down into a gloriously warm bed! Or how about retreating to the picturesque Malvern Hills Lodge! Perfectly positioned on a secluded site high-up in the Malvern Hills, this luxurious lodge accommodates up to four people making it the ideal escape for couples or small families.
Renowned for being remote, Scotland is a vast, rugged but oh so very beautiful. We are fortunate to have some hidden gems tucked into the corners of this phenomenal part of the UK. You may be heading for Ben Nevis for unlimited hikes, or venturing into the wilds! Slumber down into the rolling hills at Cairn Lodge, a trio of subtle, yet sleek lodges buried into the landscape. Perhaps you may fancy setting sail to see the sights of the West Coast upon Argyll Cruising. Argyll Cruising offers a selection of cruises, includes ‘Wildlife Explorer’ and ‘Inlets and Islands of Wild Argyll’. A very different way to take a break from reality, but what an experience it would be to explore Scotland on deck!
Wales, the perfect tonic of rural rolling hills meets endless coastal paths. The Welsh countryside is pretty expansive but there is some breath-taking scenery on whichever road you may have to take. Head to North Wales where situated within open fields in the Clwydian countryside is Sigrid Lodge. The tranquil, rural setting lends itself superbly to those looking for a true escape from the stresses of everyday life. Or you may simply just want to enjoy exploring and discovering small Welsh towns and villages. Located within private conservation land in the gorgeous Cambrian Mountains in Mid Wales is Chillderness Red Kite Glamping, where you could be sleeping amongst the trees in a quiet part of Mid-Wales.
