Lakes Lodges
Lakes Lodges
Lakes Lodges have a range of luxurious and spacious lodges including six deluxe one bedroom lodges. With two fabulous locations around Hawkshead village each lodge has either stunning countryside views of Latterbarrow or Lake views of Esthwaite Water. Two of the lodges are suitable for one small, well behaved dog.
These lodges offer a romantic break for two in the Lake District. Just outside the pretty village of Hawkshead, a few minutes from Beatrix Potter’s house. Each has a private, covered hot tub and facilities to rival the comforts of home. The Lake District National Park is famous for outdoor pursuits and staggering scenery that has drawn artists, writers and travellers for centuries. If you haven’t visited, you’ve been missing out!
Inside
If you enjoy spaciousness, light and views then these lodges are for you! Each has a 50” smart HD TV and a log burner in the sitting area. The plump sofa is large enough for both of you to sprawl out in front of the fire or a movie. Throw open the doors in the summer months and sleep to the sound of birdsong. Get the wood burner going during autumn and winter and you’ll be super snug while enjoying the views through the expansive glass frontage. The fully equipped kitchen also has a coffee machine and washing machine. The beautiful tiled bathroom has a free standing bath, and super soft towels and robes.
Outside
Your large decked veranda is elevated over views of the countryside. This is the place to take morning coffee and wrestle with the tremendous array of possibilities for your day ahead! It may be tempting to spend the day in the bubbles of your private covered hot tub! However, it will feel all the more luxurious after a day out in the mountains or on the lakes.
Nearby
The nearby village of Hawkshead is often referred to as the prettiest in all the Lakes. For meals out there are 3 great pubs just a few minutes walk away with other options nearby including The Outgate Inn which is also recommended. The quaint village also has some lovely shops with Hawkshead Relish and The Honeypot Delicatessen always worth a visit. Slightly further afield are the towns of Ambleside or Coniston with lots of great restaurants and pubs and of course Windermere and Bowness are a 20-25 minute drive either by car ferry or a scenic drive around the stunning Lake Windermere.
Hill Top, home to Beatrix Potter is two miles away from your lodge in the gorgeous village of Near Sawrey. Scenes in the village will be familiar to you if you’re a Beatrix Potter fan, and her idyllic home is definitely worth a visit. A lesser known lake, Esthwaite is home to Esthwaite Water Trout Fishery. The largest stocked fishing lake in the North West, with plentiful brown trout, pike, perch and roach. Fish from the shore or from a boat, then upon your return to the village stop at the much acclaimed Little Ice Cream Shop. Even connoisseurs of the cold and creamy will find new flavours here! Only 11 minutes by car and you can hop on the Windermere Car Ferry, and wine and dine on the lakeside terrace at The Boardwalk in Bowness, or at Bandito Burrito or The Pig in Windermere itself.
Need we mention the abundant National Trust sites, or the vast array of watersports, walking and mountain pursuits? Windermere Canoe & Kayak and Windemere Wakesurfing are close to the ferry landing stage. Hire bikes at Grizedale forest centre or take some of England’s best mountains, with Coniston Old Man, Helvellyn and Bowfell. If you feel ready for a big challenge then Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain is one for the bucket list. For rainy days the Royalty Cinema in Bowness is a vintage cinema showing current films or Zeffirelli’s in Ambleside offer a meal and movie special for an afternoon or evening treat.
