Peak District Hideout
Peak District Hideout
Banish your phone to the lockbox and completely switch off at this idyllic eco cabin.
Located within the Peak District National Park is Buzzard Lodge. A cabin that cares for the environment, it is as the name suggests a true Peak District Hideout. Occupying a meadow location and nestled against a treeline with far reaching views of rolling hills, it is sublime. And that it is off grid does not mean you’ll need to rough it! In fact, you’ll have everything you need for a perfect, carefree break. How does your own private ensuite shower room and electricity courtesy of solar panels sound? And don’t forget the seventeen acres of gorgeous nature filled land, all to yourselves.
The perfect retreat for couples, or a solo traveller looking to indulge in a spot of self-care. Dogs are welcome too, by prior arrangement. You won’t be connecting to the wi-fi here (although there is a good mobile signal if absolutely necessary). But we see this as a bonus, allowing a complete digital detox. As such we highly recommend that you make use of the device lockbox and instead immerse yourself in your surroundings.
Inside
The cosy cabin vibe reflects the ethos of Peak District Hideout. Neutral tones, warm wood accents and plenty of natural light thanks to the huge expanse of glazing. It’s a calm space. A place where you’ll feel instantly welcome, at home and able to unwind. The living space is open plan. A sofa to settle down on in front of the flickering flames in the woodburning stove. A bistro set for two to devour those takeaways. Or perhaps a simple meal created in the kitchenette, which is furnished with a gas stove, sink and fridge. Head through the door and into your ensuite shower room. With a luxurious rainfall shower and a camping loo (that acts just like a regular loo!). And beyond the curtain you’ll find your handcrafted king size bed. It’s a cute space with a huge picture window affording you the best in-bed views you’re ever likely to have!
Outside
When you’re ready to emerge from your Peak District Hideout, Buzzard Lodge has a divine private deck. Set your day up right with a coffee on one of the rockers. Or sway gently in the egg chair. For those who are a little more ambitious – get settled in the hammock. And try your hand at cooking al fresco on the firepit with the BBQ grill. And don’t forget to take in those glorious open starry skies come the night.
Nearby
This being the Peak District there is much to see and do in the local area. You may very well be content to explore on foot, and there are several beautiful walks from the cabin door. Head up to Curbar Edge and be stunned by the views across Derwent Valley. Or hike towards the Chatsworth estate, which includes Chatsworth House itself. If you fancy being challenged, head a little further into the Peak District and walk the Edale to Mam Tor route. For those who are looking for something a little more sedate, the market town of Bakewell is just a five minute drive away. Explore the town and be sure to sample a traditional Bakewell pudding from The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop. And if you’re still feeling energetic, the Monsal Trail starts in Bakewell. This eight and a half mile traffic free route is ideal for walkers and cyclists too. Well known for its incredible views, it’s a real highlight.
