Forgotten Coast Cabins
Forgotten Coast Cabins
Think tiny living but on a breathtaking scale – this is one epic couple’s getaway.
Nestled on Scotland’s rugged West Coast, Forgotten Coast Cabins offers a peaceful escape where the sea meets the mountains, creating a landscape as breathtaking as it is serene. Among the cabins is Otter Burn, a space thoughtfully designed to reimagine the glamping experience. This unique cabin, built from steel, copper, and reclaimed wood, blends industrial chic with the comfort of home, offering both warmth and modern conveniences for a cosy stay.
Forgotten Coast Cabins is a couple’s paradise. Just a ten minute walk to the village of Lochaline. With the ferry across to the nearby Isle of Mull being walkable too. The wider area, including the Scottish Highlands is ripe for exploration.
Inside
As you step inside Otter Burn, you’re welcomed by the warm glow of rustic wood and bright copper accents. The open-plan living area feels inviting, yet sophisticated. With everything you need tucked neatly into the compact kitchenette – a fridge, single oven, gas hob, kettle, toaster, and a Nespresso machine – preparing a simple meal for two becomes a joy. Settle into one of the comfy armchairs, or enjoy your creation at the peninsula breakfast bar, which offers a perfect spot to dine as you gaze out at the stunning views. Plus, there’s no need to venture out in bad weather – this self-contained cabin has everything under one roof. You can freshen up in the ensuite shower room before retreating behind draped curtains to your cozy canopied cabin bed. As you pull back the curtains each morning, sunlight streams in through the corner window, framing the beautiful landscape outside.
Outside
Outside, the magic continues. With a cup of coffee in hand, you can start your day on the private terrace, watching the ever-changing views across the Sound of Mull. If you’ve brought your four-legged friend along, they’ll love the freedom to roam safely in the enclosed garden. And when the sun sets, the real show begins. Fire up the barbecue grill on the firepit and settle in for an evening under the stars. With no city lights to distract, the sky is mesmerizingly clear, and the night stretches on, warm and glowing, as the flames crackle nearby.
Nearby
Though Otter Burn offers all the peace and solitude you could wish for, the surrounding area tempts you to explore further. A short ferry ride away, the Isle of Mull awaits, where the charming fishing village of Tobermory offers colourful waterfronts, local craft shops, and some of the best fish and chips on the West Coast. If you’re a fan of local spirits, a visit to Nc’nean Distillery, just 30 minutes away, is a must for a taste of the region’s whisky. For those eager to venture further, the historic town of Fort William is around 1 hour away. Known as the largest town in the Scottish Highlands, it’s also the gateway to countless outdoor activities. Close to the towering Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain, Fort William has earned its reputation as the country’s ‘outdoor capital.’ Whether you’re drawn by the hiking trails or the rich history, with sites like Old Inverlochy Castle nearby, the area has something for everyone. Beyond, the Scottish Highlands stretch in every direction, inviting exploration and discovery, making this retreat not just a place to relax but a perfect base for adventure.
