Not just a haven, this is quite possibly heaven on earth.
Nestled against a pocket of trees bordering a divine meadow is The Carn at Frith Meadow. A sublime eco-cabin filled with no guilt luxuries, the perfect location for making memories. Whether you’re seeking a romantic bolthole or an unforgettable family break, The Carn will more than deliver.
Located close to the English/Welsh border, and within a few minutes’ drive of the Welsh town of Presteigne. Sleeping a maximum of five people, and accommodating well behaved pets too.
The focus here is on slowing down and appreciating the little things in life. Sustainably hand built using locally sourced materials wherever possible, this is an exceptional tiny home. It may be off grid but all day to day essentials are catered for. With solar energy generating the power for heating, hot water and lighting. And there’s even a generator, taking care of those short, grey days. Meanwhile, water is fed from a borehole through an aquifer, the result being purer than bottled water. All you need to do is relax and luxuriate in the experience.
The space is a perfect blend of rustic charm and homely comforts, with plenty of pre-loved treasures. In keeping with the off grid location, there is no Wi-Fi or screens here. Instead, tune into the sound of the rustling leaves and vibrant wildlife surrounding you, all the while gazing across the views. The Carn is a little home away from home. Bifold doors open into the open plan living space. A cosy corner sofa, ideal for tucking your legs up and reading a good book. A dining table looking out onto the views of the Herefordshire Hills. All leading towards the well equipped kitchen. Your bathroom has both a bath and a shower. And there are two bedrooms, the master having a king size bed. With the second bedroom having a double bed with a single bunk above.
Outside The Carn at Frith Meadow is equally as important as the inside. The wrap around decking is an extension of the indoor space. Undercover to shelter from the rain and sunshine, you have a seating/dining area. Rustle up a family feast on the barbecue and keep the flames going to enjoy a dessert of s’mores. The hanging egg chair, swing and hammock each provide their own moments of quiet contentment. While the outdoor wash facilities are top notch. The sunken bath is ideal for evening stargazing. While the Portuguese bucket shower offers a reinvigorating outdoor bathing experience.
Should you feel the need to leave the indulgent quiet of The Carn at Frith Meadow, there are lots of options. There are castles aplenty in the local area. Within forty minutes or less, you have Clun Castle, Ludlow Castle, Stokesay Castle, Wigmore Castle and Hay Castle for starters. Two National Trust properties are easily reachable, with The Weir Garden and Berrington Hall being just over thirty minutes away. Around fifteen minutes away is the town of Knighton, home to the visitor centre for the historic Offa’s Dyke Path. If you love great food, Ludlow is forty minutes away. While book lovers will want to explore Hay on Wye and its many bookshops, also around a forty minute drive.
