About

Sublime tiny home made of cork cladding for two in a beautiful woodland oasis with it’s own island.

Nestled close to the meeting point of three counties; Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire are all ripe for exploration, including being only 15/20 minutes away from the famous Bruton. Hauser & Wirth, a major contemporary art gallery, Osip  a Michelin star restaurant and The Newt in Somerset only a 4 minute drive from the station or a 30 min walk. If you’re a foodie you’ve found the place for you as there’s an abundance of luxury and stylish restaurants and pubs nearby.

It is a space that has been curated to inspire creativity. An escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, allowing you to spend time exploring the arts, nature, food and culture around or you may wish to escape solo to nourish your creative spark.

Authors, scriptwriters, artists, photographers and designers can all benefit from the peace and tranquillity of this small, lovely home. Even better, your stay is almost entirely guilt-free with some serious eco-credentials. Korkhouse is completely off grid, being powered with solar energy and having a grey water recycling system. So, whether you’re looking for a weekend break, a working break or a more prolonged stay. Korkhouse could be exactly what you are looking for.

Inside

The inside of Korkhouse is stripped back and elegant. Light pools into the space via the glazed double doors. While the bare wood walls are a nod to the natural surroundings. The kitchenette comes equipped with a gas stove and a fridge. While the bespoke island table doubles for both work and devouring meals on! Pass the time with board games in front of the wood burning stove. Or enjoy a quiet evening in front of the tv. And thanks to the Wi-Fi there’s no need to miss out on a Mubi film or a new series. You’ll find the shower room behind the sliding door. With endless hot water, basin and a waterless composting loo. And come night time, head up the ladder to the memory foam double bed. Snuggle in for a care-free sleep, ready to wake to the sight of your woodland sanctuary through your bedside window.

Outside

Your stay at Korkhouse allows use of the lush one acre of a private meadow with birds singing in the trees and sometimes cows and sheep in the next field. With a large stream and mini waterfall, there’ll be no need to manufacture sounds of relaxation here. Cook and dine al fresco in the treelined dining area. With a barbecue set and an authentically rustic dining table and seating, you’ll feel you’re dining in a storybook. And just in case you need the reminder of the ‘real’ world, Korkhouse is sited near to a railway viaduct. Although infrequent, the speed at which the trains pass by offer an often timely reminder to savour the slower pace of your break.
