So idyllically perfect you’ll leave feeling as if you’ve been living in a dream.

Surrounded by the stunning mid-Welsh countryside, and a working farm is Woolly Wood Cabins. Inside they are identical in all but name; Cabin Nant and Cabin Bryn perch presiding over a glorious valley view, with Nant having the addition of a private wood fired hot tub. This is a classic rural idyll, and with each cabin sleeping up to four people, they are perfect for couples, families or friends. Nant and Bryn are also available to hire together, ideal for larger groups of up to eight.

If you’re looking to embrace life in the slow lane and enjoy some time away from the hustle and bustle of the city with zero compromise on comfort, then read on!

Inside

Prepare to be stunned by the interior of your cabin at Woolly Wood. While the style may be rustically inspired, there is no roughing it here. The bare wood walls blend perfectly with dark grey and black accents creating a homely, yet contemporary space. Both cabins feature an open plan kitchen, living and dining space, with a boiling water tap, fridge, freezer, oven, induction hob and even a dishwasher; this is one well-equipped space! Although you’re rurally located, there’s nothing remote about the Wi-Fi thanks to Starlink! The superfast speeds make buffering a thing of the past, and perfect for snuggling beneath cosy blankets in front of the 43” Smart TV as you stream your favourite tv show and film. The underfloor heating keeps your cabin toasty and warm, while the wood burning stove adds a little bit of characterful ambience. Your cabin also has one double bedroom downstairs, a super king (or two singles) on the mezzanine, plus a very stylish shower room.

Outside

Take in the valley view from your covered veranda – ideal for protecting you from the elements come rain or shine. Both cabins at Woolly Wood Cabins have outdoor dining space, plus a firepit area. As this is also a dark sky area, we can’t think of anything more magical than a spot of stargazing. You can marvel at the bright twinkling sky from the shared stargazing platform. Or even better, from the warm soothing waters of your private wood fired hot tub in Cabin Nant.

Whilst the peace and calm of the tranquil location of Woolly Wood Cabins is exactly what you’re looking for, you may well fancy a day or two out and about. Rhayader, the nearest town, is the self-proclaimed ‘outdoor capital’ of Wales, just twenty five minutes away. Alternatively, head to the old hill farm at Gilfach and take an amble around this enchanting nature reserve (twenty minutes). For a little more adrenaline, learn to kayak at the Elan Valley Visitor Centre (twenty five minutes), get up close and personal with a handling experience at Valley View Falconry (twenty five minutes), or if you fancy heading a bit further afield, the Silver Mountain Experience is forty five minutes away, or for some sea breeze the coast is just over an hour drive West.
